Phone Conference Calling
Phone conference calling is a telephone call in which the calling party wishes to connect to more than one person so that all parties involved may listen to the call.
Phone Conference Calling can often be set up to either allow all parties to participate by speaking and listening or so that only the calling party may speak and all others are only able to listen. Many conference calls allow the participants to call in to the conference themselves using an access number to connect to a telephone bridge that joins all of the lines active in the conference.
Three-way calling, a limited form of Phone Conference Calling, and is available through most residential telephone service providers for an extra fee.
Phone Conference Calling is most often used by businesses to connect to remote parties both internally and outside their company, however, the conference call does have social and entertainment applications as well. Such ‘party lines’ allow users to call a specified number and connects them to conversations with other callers. This servs as a way for people to talk to and perhaps subsequently meet new people. The party line remains, however, a largely unused option and most Phone Conference Calling is held in a business setting.
